3 of the best hotels in the country are on the island
The year has barely started and Mallorca is already hitting the headlines for the exceptional quality of its tourist infrastructure. The famous online reviews site, Trip Advisor, have released their first Travelers' Choice Awards for 2018 and 3 Mallorcan hotels have placed among the top 25 in Spain.
These prizes are granted according to millions of reviews made by travellers from all around the globe in a year. Once more, Mallorca has cemented its place as one of the most sought-after destinations in the world, catering to an upmarket clientele in search of unique experiences and luxury accommodation. This is actually true for the whole of Spain, which has made it into the second spot for most Travelers' Choice hotels featured, with 176. Astoria Playa Hotel - Port d'Alcúdia
On 8th place is the 4-star superior Astoria Playa Hotel, in the upmarket northern resort of Port d'Alcudia. This adults-only hotel offers everything you need for a romantic escapade or a fun group adventure. Situated only 150 metres from the beach, it has a lovely outdoor pool, as well as a jacuzzi, and they organise live music and entertainment in the evenings. If you prefer a more active holiday, you can take advantage of their bike rental service and bike centre, explore some of the neighbouring hiking trails or head to one of the four golf courses in the vicinity. They also describe themselves as a "winehotel" which means that here you can taste some of the best local and international wines. What's not to like?
Sant Francesc Boutique Hotel - Palma
Hailed as one of the best designer boutique hotels in Mallorca's capital, Sant Francesc was voted among the best 50 hotels in the world last year by Conde Nast and has made it to number 13 in this year's Trip Advisor list. So many people can't be wrong! What people love about this 19th-century mansion conversion is its understated and elegant decor, chic patio and, of course, the large terrace with panoramic views of the city which you can enjoy while taking a dip in the pool or sipping on a cocktail at the bar.
Miramar Hotel - Port de Pollença
This 4-star hotel has stood on the same spot, overlooking the stunning Bay of Pollença, since 1912 making it the oldest tourist establishment in Port de Pollença and one of the oldest on the island. At the beginning of the 20th century, it hosted the artists of the Escuela de Pollensa, famous for their depiction of Mediterranean landscapes. This piece of Mallorcan history currently has a private beach, swimming pool, spa and gym, making it the perfect spot for a sunny break.
