Mallorca has seen plenty of wintery weather this week and, whilst much of the island have risen to rainfall this morning, Mallorca’s mountains have awoken to snow, and a lot of it. The State Agency of Meteorology in the Balearic Islands (AEMET) predict more snowfall today at 600 metres and above.

In terms of road closures in the mountains, the MA-10 road from Ses Barques to the Mirador de Sa Calobra was closed but snow ploughs have been working hard to unblock it this morning. In Palma, temperatures are only 7ºC, so locals are experiencing colder conditions than they are used to.

There’s an alert also for snow on Saturday, as it is predicted conditions will intensify and snow is expected at low levels down to 300 metres. Lower levels are set to receive rainfall, particularly in the west of the island.

On Sunday, the whole island looks as though it will be brightening up, and temperatures will reach a high of 13ºC during the day.
