May 2017 saw the celebration of the 24th edition of the prestigious Concours Mondial de Bruxelles in Valladolid, central Spain. Two Mallorcan wineries, Can Feliu and Can Axartell, received gold medals for their exceptional production.

For over 20 years, the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles has been on a quest to find the world's finest wines in an event that is known and recognised internationally. Buyers, shippers, engineers, oenologists, journalists, specialist wine writers and critics, researchers and other experts from all around the globe are part of its jury.

This year, two Mallorcan wines were awarded the highest honour, the gold medal. Tinto Dos 2013 from Can Axartell is an organic wine made with Merlot, Syrah, Callet and Pinot Noir grape varieties. This winery, founded by the family of German cosmetics brand Schwarzkopf, uses only gravity to press the wine following the traditional "Mètode Gravetat".

Alè de Cabernet 2014 is made at Can Feliu Ecoagroturismo, a charming rural hotel near Porreres. Their vineyard produces excellent organic wines like this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon award-winning wine which you can try while staying at the hotel. Their Alè de Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 and Alè de Cabernet Can Feliu 2015 also won silver medals at this year's edition of the Concours Mondial.
