More Winter Flights for Balearic Islands

Hoping to increase winter tourism on Mallorca & Ibiza

For the past few years the Balearic islands, and Mallorca in particular, have been becoming more and more popular as winter destinations. Not just for those looking for some winter sunshine but also for athletes looking for good training ground.

But in fact the number of flights servicing the islands drops by an astonishing 75% over the winter, making it not only more difficult to access the islands, but also more expensive.

The Balearic Government has decided to take action and plans to open a public tender for airlines to operate flights during these winter months. Spurred on by the figures showing that this summer has been the best in years for tourism, it is hoped that more tourism products, and more frequent flights will help to keep the islands busier and more profitable throughout the months of October to March.
