Every year, Mastercard reveals its Global Destination Cities Index based on international visitors' overnight stays, which identifies trends of how people travel abroad. Palma, once more, has made it into the top 20 most popular cities in the world for international travellers.
The capital of Mallorca received 8.96 million international visitors last year, making it the 18th in a list lead by Bangkok, followed by Paris and London. Palma was chosen as the favourite destination abroad for travellers from Germany, which were 38% of the total, and the UK with 27.1%.
Regarding spending, international visitors left $12.96 billion here, making it the 9th highest spending among the 200 cities analysed in this study. Tourist stayed for an average of six nights, meaning that they spent around $233 per day in the city.
With gourmet restaurants, top-rated hotels, beautiful beaches, world-class museums and heritage, lively nightlife, plenty of things to do, lots of events throughout the year and super friendly locals, it's no surprise Palma is one of the best cities in the world to visit.
