Manacor born and bred Rafa Nadal has recovered from the injuries that hindered his game last year. He has started 2017 playing the first of the four Grand Slam's final, the Australian Open, against Roger Federer who ended up winning the match.

It was a close call as the game arrived at the end of the fifth set after more than 3 hours and a half. Rafa won the second (3-6) and fourth sets (3-6) while Federer prevailed in the first (6-4), third (6-1) and fifth sets (6-3). The match point was decided with the Hawk-Eye system, giving Roger his 18th Grand Slam and his first big victory after Wimbledon 2012.

The legendary Australian Open 2009 final was probably in the minds of all spectators when the Mallorcan prodigy won the title against the Swiss champion, who ended up shedding tears during the prize giving ceremony. They both have now climbed several spots in the ATP classification, with Roger Federer rising to number 10 and Rafa Nadal achieving number 6.
