One of the most prestigious nautical events of the year, the Copa del Rey sailing regatta started this Monday. As it's been traditionally happening for years, King Felipe VI is taking part aboard the 'Aifos' yacht.

He arrived in Palma last Thursday. After a round of official meetings, he was able to join his crew on Sunday for a tour around Palma Bay. Queen Mother Sofia and her grandchildren Felipe, Juan, Pablo, Nicolás and Irene also decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and explore the waters around Palma on a yacht. The king had joined his nephews and mother on Saturday for a boat trip to Cabrera island.

Queen Letizia and their children Leonor and Sofia got to Mallorca on Monday, just in time for the royal family's traditional photo shoot just outside Marivent Palace, their summer residence for the last 13 years. 2017 was the first time the gardens at the palace opened to the public and, although currently closed due to the king's presence, they will start receiving visitors again on September 15th.

Pierre Casiraghi, Caroline of Monaco's youngest son, will also participate in the sailing race just like he did last year. Together with his wife, Beatrice Borromeo, he was seen enjoying a stroll around Mallorca's capital this weekend.
