The municipality of Capdepera have ambitious plans to equip all roads in the area with bike lanes, which will include the popular tourist destinations of Cala Ratjada and Cala Mesquida.

With cycling becoming a growing industry on the Island and the increasing numbers of tourists coming specifically for cycling holidays, the investment seems to make sense if the north east of Mallorca wants to ensure its place as an excellent destination for cyclists.

"It is a very costly project that we want to implement in the next legislature," says Mayor Rafel Fernández.

It has been estimated to cost six million euros to build the bike lanes. They will cover the entire road network connecting the various hamlets of Capdepera, Cala Ratjada, Sa Font de Sa Cala, Canyamel and Cala Mesquida together.
