Yet more great news for the Balearics tourism sector! After record numbers in the amount of visitors and hotel's occupancy rate, the Spanish Ministry of Industry & Tourism has revealed that tourists have spent an average 7.6% more in the first 8 months of 2015 than in the same period last year.

This increase has been mainly due thanks to foreign visitors, who have left 8,318 million euros in the islands since January, with a whopping average 953 euros per person. British are the biggest spenders, followed by Germans and French.

The Balearics continue to be one of the favourite tourist destinations in Europe, achieving the greatest increment in tourist spending in Spain during 2015. And the tendency might have just started, since the regional government is trying to implement new measures to promote Mallorca among winter travellers, starting with an extension of the tourist season well into November and the creation of new off-season activities and promotions in Ibiza.
