November is a wonderful time to visit Mallorca. Streets are quiet, trendy restaurants empty and you can take long strolls across the beach or the mountain trails without seeing another soul.

This doesn't mean that Mallorcan keeps idle, on the contrary, local traditional festivals thrive at this time of year.

Dijous Bo Fair in Inca

The island's largest agricultural fair, the Dijous Bo, takes place on November 16th in Inca. Farmers and artisans from all over Mallorca don their best traditional costumes and gather at this small rural village for a big market where you can find everything, from local produce to handicrafts. There is also live music, art exhibitions, performances and lots of activities for children. A very popular event, we recommend you take the train from Palma to reach Inca, which runs on a special timetable for the occasion.

Local produce festivals

If you prefer your taster of Mallorca's traditional customs and produce in a smaller size, you can try the Olive Fair in Caimari, the Honey Festival in Llubi or the New Wine Fiesta in Santa Maria del Camí. There is also a Pumpkin Fair in Muro complete with a giant pumpkin competition and a Mushroom Fair in Mancor de la Vall honouring the humble but delicious Esclata-sang mushrooms.

Evolution Mallorca International Film festival

Cosmopolitan Mallorca has an eye on its own traditions and another one on the rest of the world as evidenced by Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival, the fastest growing competitive film festival in the Mediterranean. Showcasing the work of some of the most creative Spanish and international filmmakers, this festival is especially focused on edgy, socially-relevant features. The festival hosts a lot of events, we recommend you head to Port Adriano's Drive-in Cinema for a romantic night on the 1st of November with Love Actually and Pretty Woman or to Rialto Living where you'll be able to talk to filmmakers in their Cafe con Cine breakfast Q&As on the 3rd and the 4th.

Visual magic at Palma Cathedral

Twice per year, the rosette that decorates the main altar in Palma cathedral casts a light and colour image on the facing wall creating a double rosette. This happens because the cathedral is oriented to the sunrise during the winter solstice. Head early to the cathedral, at around 08:00, on 11th November to witness the effect.

Bonfire night in Magaluf

You're on holidays but still remember, remember the 5th of November? Worry not, Calvià town council are organising a bonfire night in Sa Porrassa, Magaluf, from 18:00 with food & drink, activities for children, music, entertainment and, of course, spectacular fireworks.

Food Passion at Port Adriano

This month, treat yourself to a special lunch or dinner in Port Adriano, Mallorca's most beautiful luxury marina. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in November, restaurants by the port offer special tasting menus between 16€ and 25€ per person. Steak tartar at Vino del Mar, duck confit with orange-infused sauce at La Terraza, homemade vegetable veloute at Sa Cantina, fresh sea bass at Marisquería El Faro, tomato and ham soup at Bruno or homemade cake at Pizzería La Oca are just some of the dishes on offer during this edition of the gourmet Food Passion Festival.

Christmas comes to Palma

It might seem early but Christmas is right around the corner. Palma lights up for the celebrations on the 23rd of November, just in time for the Black Friday madness. Head to Passeig des Born to see the Christmas lights switched on. Live music and performances will liven up the streets of the city in preparation for the festivities.
