Cala Barca Beach, South-East Mallorca

Popular spot for snorkellers & divers on Mallorca's south east coast

featured in Beaches Updated

Cala Barca is a small but pretty bay on the edge of Mondrago Park in the south east of Mallorca. It's 35 metres long by 25 metres deep and has golden sand.

The beach itself is small and can become crowded in peak season but it its much prettier than some of the beaches further up the coast in Cala d'Or as it is surrounded by pine and oak trees.

The closest resorts are Portopetro and Cala D'Or.

Good for: Diving, Snorkelling and Families

Beach Bars & Beachclubs in Mallorca

The beach club in the shaded area behind the beach serves food and drinks.

Setting & Location

Unlike some of the bays in the area, it has been developed for tourists and the Iberostar Club Cala Barca sits in the trees just behind the beach. The hotel means that the beach is not as quiet as neighbouring Cala d'en Borgit but it does have a beach club and a SCUBA and snorkelling centre.

Water Safety & Clarity

The bay is long and thin so the water is sheltered and calm and popular with divers and snorkelers. You'll also find showers and toilets on the beach, but there is no lifeguard service.

Watersports Nearby

Snorkelling and diving are just two of the reasons to visit this beach, but with the crystal clear blue waters in front of you and the facilities right on your doorstep it would be shame not to give it a go!

Directions

You can walk to this beach if you are staying in Portopetro (about one kilometre) otherwise it's best to drive - you can follow signs from Porto Petro or s'Alqueria Blanca. Free parking is available at the beach. Walking trails exist along the coastline, leading south to Mondrago Park and to Punta des Savinar, towards Cala Figuera.
