Located in an old mill, Restaurant Diferent sits within one of the oldest buildings in Cala d’Or. Many people stop in their tracks to admire the unusual building and, if the building doesn’t grab your attention, the wacky décor certainly will.

Last week, I went to tapas heaven and you’ll be pleased to hear you can find it nestled in the heart of Cala d’Or.

A people watchers dream, this pair of friendly restaurants located in the old town of Alcudia with their cheerful checkered tablecloths, relaxed menu and great locations are well worth a visit.

So, on a warm summers evening, we went along to try Casa Font i Roig’s Friday night BBQ bonanza.

Despite its location on a cobbled backstreet buried in the depths of Palma’s old town, Quina Creu has deservedly built up a devoted fan base in the city and we thought we would go and see what all the fuss was about!

Cala Sant Vincenc situated just outside of Pollenca and Puerto Pollensa is a beautiful old fisherman’s town well worth a visit for a chance to escape the bigger resorts on the coast. Small though it is, it does boast a range of eateries most of which are as close to the beach as possible and can get fairly swarmed by the beach going crowds, which is why I ended up having lunch in Pepe’s bar.

Hotel Es Lloquet – The Secret Place could quite possibly be Mallorca’s best-kept secret! In the deepest depths of Mallorca’s countryside, just south of Campos down a small dirt track, is where you'll find this charming establishment.

The name DaiCa is a fusion of the names of the team behind it, David and Caterina – both with extensive experience in lots of excellent restaurants across Mallorca and mainland Spain, the pair have now turned their culinary hands to running a small restaurant and hotel in the beautiful village of Llubi, in the centre of the island near Inca.

The Frenchman and I were up in the north-east of Mallorca over the weekend, enjoying the luscious green countryside and idly toying with the idea of actually getting out of the car to explore a little on foot. “Oh no!”, said The Frenchman, “can't we just open the windows and hang our heads out a bit?”.
