Santa Ponsa,

1. Santa Ponsa

Location
Santa Ponsa

Santa Ponsa, also known as Santa Ponça, is a holiday resort situated in a beautiful sheltered cove in the south-west of Mallorca. Despite being a favourite among British visitors for over 40 years, it’s remarkably avoided too many of the high-rise developments seen in some of Mallorca’s neighbouring coastal resorts. Santa Ponsa bay sits against a gorgeous mountain backdrop, dotted with well-designed villas and apartment buildings that blend in nicely with the scenery.

Its large blue flag beach is the main attraction here, a wide, long stretch of silky soft white sand lined by a lively promenade. Santa Ponsa is a family-friendly resort but welcomes a whole host of age groups due to being well equipped with restaurants, bars, shops and all sorts of activities for holidaymakers. Thanks to a steady expat community, the area has a year-round vibe, unlike many other resorts on the island, some restaurants and bars here stay open all year.

There are several yacht charter companies in the area, offering both sailing and motor yachts in a range of sizes. Charters are available for anything from a half-day outing to extended trips lasting weeks or even months. For the best options, be sure to explore Club Nautico Santa Ponsa and nearby Port Adriano.

2. Port Adriano

Location
Santa Ponsa

Port Adriano is a luxury marina perched on the southwestern coastline of Mallorca. Designed by French architect Philippe Starck, it opened in 2012 and currently stands as one of the most modern marinas in the Mediterranean.

The port, unlike most others in Mallorca, is not so much a town or resort, but a modern commercial centre and marina. Its design caters for yachts up to 100m in length which means it is one of few marinas around the island that can accommodate some of the largest yachts in the world. It should come as no surprise that the transformation of the port was designed with money in mind! It’s taken a few years to fill but the quayside now hosts more than 50 high-end restaurants, bars and designer boutiques to satisfy the needs its yachting clientele.

Other than the modern design and ability to cater for the larger superyachts, its extensive calendar of events is what makes this port stand out from the crowd. From food festivals, Christmas fairs and concerts through to the busy summer schedule of sunset yoga, evening parades and more, there always seems to be something going on in Port Adriano. Day to day, there’s a decent selection of watersports on offer, including jet ski, paddle surf, diving and kayaking, in addition to the option of sailing or booking a yacht charter.
