Also used as a congress and convention venue this theatre is situated in the north east of the Island in the pretty town of Arta.

Built in 2001 on land that was donated by the village blacksmith Christopher Pons, the theatre can hold 460 people in this purpose built space. In addition to the theatre they have several meeting rooms, dressing rooms and the entrance hall which also houses the box office.

They are know for their music, dance and art performances and have a varied schedule of events.

Palma's main theatre has recently undergone major refurbishment, and now this nineteenth century building has been brought into the twenty-first century.

Originally created in 1667 it was known as the House of Comedies and had a capacity for 800 people. After further refurbishments and improvements it was once again inaugurated in 1857, however, this was not to last long as after a performance of Macbeth in 1858 a fire destroyed the theatre completely.

Closed from 2001 to 2007 for work to modernise the building it was once again inaugurated as a centre for the performing arts. The annual programme consists of theatre, opera, classical music concerts, dance, choral music and modern music.

It is located by the Placa Major in the centre of Palma old town.

Palma Auditorium

3. Palma Auditorium

A variety of shows, music concerts, plays, dance & musicals are performed at the Auditorium. It also hosts conferences and conventions.

Founded in 1969, the Auditorium houses nine halls and meeting rooms, two of which (the Magna and Mozart Halls) are theatres and are often used for art and music performances.

From the rooftop you get a fantastic view over Palma, the main historic buildings and way out to sea to the archipelago that extends.

Some top hit musicals are performed here, as well as classical music, ballet, theatre performances and live concerts. It is conveniently and centrally located on the seafront, along the Passeig Maritimo, close to a range of bars, restaurants and hotels.

4. Trui Theatre

The Trui Theatre hosts many performances throughout the year, including plays, musicals, spectacle and concerts.

Dedicated to Balearic Culture for 35 years this theatre started in the 70's with very much a jazz vibe. Now centred on creating an artistic and creative space for performers and groups, and making the performances accessible to the general public.

It is situated on the outskirts of Palma, and there is plenty of free parking as well as a cafe. The theatre seats 1300.
