Cala D'Or is a popular resort town on the south eastern coast of Mallorca. The area is made up of five different areas that take their names from the surrounding bays or "calas".

First established in 1996, the annual Superyacht Cup is the longest running superyacht regatta in Europe attracting over 200 sailing superyachts to the event during its 15 year history. The most luxurious superyachts in the world meet in Palma for a race around Mallorca's clear water. The race is on this week from the 22nd to the 25th June.

Wakeboarding is a great sport that is available both behind a boat and on a cable here in Mallorca. El Spot wakeboard school in Palmanova have a Mastercraft X2 and all the boards, jackets and helmets you could need. Up in Port d'Alcudia there is wakeboarding on Spain's largest cable at Mallorca cable ski. Both schools are run by people who can coach to a high level or guide you out of the water on your first try. Perfect for groups and great fun.

There are so many festivals and national holidays on mainland Spain and Mallorca/Majorca if you can attend any of them you should. From running with bulls in Pampelona to dodging fireworks in Palma, health and safety is not always high on the agenda at Spanish fiestas but fun certainly is.

Mallorca/Majorca has many buildings that fans of architecture will find interesting. Palma alone has examples of Medieval, Gothic, Modernist and Arabic buildings.

Decribed as the 8th Wonder of the World the Terracotta Army of ancient China is a marvel of the ancient world. These replicas of the warriors will be in Palma for the whole summer 2012.

Avoid the busy beaches in the resorts of Magaluf, Alcudia and Palma by heading to the southern tip of Mallorca. Here you can enjoy stretches of white sand and the clearest water on the island and best of all you don't have to share them with hundreds of other people.

Golf is one of the most popular sports on Mallorca/Majorca, with twenty courses across the island.

Port d'Andratx and its parent town of Andratx sit on the south west peninsula of Mallorca about 20 miles from from Palma de Mallorca. Andratx itself is a quiet town but near-by you'll find great beaches, a harbour town, restaurants, art galleries, golf courses, tennis clubs and nature reserves. Some of the best of the island right on your doorstep.

The weekly market is a great way to spend a morning, pick up some souvenirs and the best place to buy fresh food. There's a market almost every day in Mallorca and there are even some at night. If you are lucky enough to be visiting Palma then the Olivar market is worth a visit even if you don't buy anything. The Mallorcan capital Palma has some great shopping opportunities with plenty of chic boutiques and up market stores. Most can be found in the center of town on the Passeig des Born and on the Avenue Jaume III.

One of Mallorca's most popular tourist attractions is on the east coast of the Island - The Cuevas del Drach. These caves are some of the largest in Europe and the stalactite and stalagmite formations are incredible. The caves are just outside the town of Porto Cristo, and are open all year round.

Cabrera is the name of the Archepelago that lies ten miles from the southern tip of Mallorca. It's a national park that is made up of less than twenty small Islands. Although most of the islands here rise straight out of the sea and can't be landed at they do create some of the most beautiful bays in Mallorca for swimming.

Palma's Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (Es Baluard Museu d'Art Modern i Contemporani de Palma) is one of the Mallorca/Majorca's best art galleries. Built with the co-operation of the government it is a museum for the people of Mallorca to be proud of and concentrates on showing art from the Balearic's.

The Es Firo Festival takes place in Soller every May in celebration of the 1561 attack on Port Soller when the locals repelled a gang of Moorish attackers. These days it's all about setting off fireworks, shooting hats and smearing paint on passers by.

One of the most popular religious destinations on Mallorca/Majorca is nestled in the Tramuntana mountain range on the north of the island. The Lluc Monastery receives hundreds of visitors a day, and although it's pretty here, there is not much to do except enjoy the tranquil surroundings.

Segways are a perfect way to see Palma's sights and attractions. Cruise round the old town, roll along the beach front and glide past the Cathedral. Easy to drive, fast and fun. You will look a bit daft but you'll be having too much fun to care.
