Mallorcan/Majorcan wine is making something of a come back.

Cabrera is the name of the Archepelago that lies ten miles from the southern tip of Mallorca. It's a national park that is made up of less than twenty small Islands. Although most of the islands here rise straight out of the sea and can't be landed at they do create some of the most beautiful bays in Mallorca for swimming.

Joan Miro remains one of Mallorca's favourite sons. Although not born on the island he married a Mallorcan and spent over half his life here. Most of his paintings, sculptures and ceramics now live in America and on mainland Spain but the Pilar et Joan Miro foundation in Cala Major has a broad cross-section of his work as well as two of his studios. A must for all fans of surrealism.

Palma's Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (Es Baluard Museu d'Art Modern i Contemporani de Palma) is one of the Mallorca/Majorca's best art galleries. Built with the co-operation of the government it is a museum for the people of Mallorca to be proud of and concentrates on showing art from the Balearic's.

First established in 1996, the annual Superyacht Cup is the longest running superyacht regatta in Europe attracting over 200 sailing superyachts to the event during its 15 year history. The most luxurious superyachts in the world meet in Palma for a race around Mallorca's clear water. The race is on this week from the 22nd to the 25th June.

Cala D'Or is a popular resort town on the south eastern coast of Mallorca. The area is made up of five different areas that take their names from the surrounding bays or "calas".

Diea and neighbouring Valldemossa achieved their popularity after visits from famous artists like Fredric Chopin, George Sands and Robert Graves but these days maintain their reputation with excellent hide-away Fincas and hotels like La Residencia. Although you can come here on a day trip and maybe do some celebrity watching the best way to enjoy the area is to relax, rest and enjoy world class hotels and pampering.

At the eastern end of the Serra de Tramuntana and tucked between two hills, each topped by a sacred site, Pollenca is the perfect Mallorcan town. Large enough to avoid being twee but small enough to wander round in a morning, it has none of the feel of other towns which have succumbed under the sheer weight of tourism.

Mallorca/ Majorca is far more than beaches and and coast line. Head to the interior of the island and you'll find wine country, beautiful scenery, luxuary fincas, traditional markets and much, much more.

The small fishing village of Portixol lies in the middle of the bay of Palma just outside the captial. The little crescent beach here is far more sheltered than the huge, neighbouring Palma beach and the cafes and restaurants that line the water front are great places for a coffee or a cocktail.

The weekly market is a great way to spend a morning, pick up some souvenirs and the best place to buy fresh food. There's a market almost every day in Mallorca and there are even some at night. If you are lucky enough to be visiting Palma then the Olivar market is worth a visit even if you don't buy anything. Segways are a perfect way to see Palma's sights and attractions. Cruise round the old town, roll along the beach front and glide past the Cathedral. Easy to drive, fast and fun. You will look a bit daft but you'll be having too much fun to care.

Decribed as the 8th Wonder of the World the Terracotta Army of ancient China is a marvel of the ancient world. These replicas of the warriors will be in Palma for the whole summer 2012.

We went flying with our friends at IB Ballooning in Cala Millor. Mallorca is a great place for a flight as the countryside is so varied with hills and sea sitting next to each other. Fly over the water and the hills with a glass of champagne and watch the sun set.
