Mallorca/ Majorca is far more than beaches and and coast line. Head to the interior of the island and you'll find wine country, beautiful scenery, luxuary fincas, traditional markets and much, much more.

Soller is a charming village on the west coast of Mallorca/Majorca. Although you can drive here, the main road is fairly unremarkable. You're much better to take the twisting old road, or if you want to travel like a Mallorcan of yesteryear you can take the old railway that runs from Palma to Soller.

The Western Water Park in Magaluf and Aqualand in S'Arenal are the two water parks in the bay of Palma. One has a Wild West theme and the other is set in large garden enviroment. Both offer slides, ride and a lot of water. You may also be interested in our Waterparks in Mallorca page.

One of the most popular religious destinations on Mallorca/Majorca is nestled in the Tramuntana mountain range on the north of the island. The Lluc Monastery receives hundreds of visitors a day, and although it's pretty here, there is not much to do except enjoy the tranquil surroundings.

One of Mallorca's most popular tourist attractions is on the east coast of the Island - The Cuevas del Drach. These caves are some of the largest in Europe and the stalactite and stalagmite formations are incredible. The caves are just outside the town of Porto Cristo, and are open all year round.

Joan Miro remains one of Mallorca's favourite sons. Although not born on the island he married a Mallorcan and spent over half his life here. Most of his paintings, sculptures and ceramics now live in America and on mainland Spain but the Pilar et Joan Miro foundation in Cala Major has a broad cross-section of his work as well as two of his studios. A must for all fans of surrealism.

Diea and neighbouring Valldemossa achieved their popularity after visits from famous artists like Fredric Chopin, George Sands and Robert Graves but these days maintain their reputation with excellent hide-away Fincas and hotels like La Residencia. Although you can come here on a day trip and maybe do some celebrity watching the best way to enjoy the area is to relax, rest and enjoy world class hotels and pampering.

Puerto Portals is a luxury marina resort on the south coast of Mallorca, about 10 minutes west of Palma de Mallorca. The bars, restaurants and cafes here are ideal places to enjoy a coffee some lunch and a spot of people watching during the day and in the evening you can come back and enjoy Michelin starred restaurants and cocktails, or check out one of our favourite new hang outs: Wellies.

First established in 1996, the annual Superyacht Cup is the longest running superyacht regatta in Europe attracting over 200 sailing superyachts to the event during its 15 year history. The most luxurious superyachts in the world meet in Palma for a race around Mallorca's clear water. The race is on this week from the 22nd to the 25th June.

The Es Firo Festival takes place in Soller every May in celebration of the 1561 attack on Port Soller when the locals repelled a gang of Moorish attackers. These days it's all about setting off fireworks, shooting hats and smearing paint on passers by.

Cabrera is the name of the Archepelago that lies ten miles from the southern tip of Mallorca. It's a national park that is made up of less than twenty small Islands. Although most of the islands here rise straight out of the sea and can't be landed at they do create some of the most beautiful bays in Mallorca for swimming.

The small fishing village of Portixol lies in the middle of the bay of Palma just outside the captial. The little crescent beach here is far more sheltered than the huge, neighbouring Palma beach and the cafes and restaurants that line the water front are great places for a coffee or a cocktail.

There are so many festivals and national holidays on mainland Spain and Mallorca/Majorca if you can attend any of them you should. From running with bulls in Pampelona to dodging fireworks in Palma, health and safety is not always high on the agenda at Spanish fiestas but fun certainly is.
