Opio Restaurant Review

Location
Palma de Mallorca

The Frenchman recently had a couple of his countrymen over to visit for the weekend. Parisian to boot, the pressure was on to find somewhere suitably ‘chic et sophistiqué, cherie' to impress our visitors on a Friday night in Mallorca.

Bonaire Bistro & Cafe - Review

Location
Palma de Mallorca

We are always on the look-out for decent lunch spots in Palma, where you know you'll get a decent quality lunch at reasonable prices in convivial surroundings - preferably outside on a terrace. So after an impromptu shopping trip on of Avinguda Jaume III, we found ourselves on C/Bonaire (which is just off this main shopping thoroughfare). There are a number of cafes and bars on this street, and it's a popular lunch spot with local workers as well as visitors.

Tasca de Blanquerna Restaurant

Location
Palma de Mallorca

Placa Espana is the major transport hub in the centre of Palma. It is where most of the buses & trains start their journeys, and where you catch the traditional wooden train to Soller. As such, there are a number of less refined dining establishments in the area, where you can fork out not insignificant sums for rather ordinary fare (no transport pun intended!). So it is good to know that there are some seriously good alternatives in the vicinity where you are guaranteed a good feed at a decent price.

Tomeu Restaurant review in Palma

Tomeu Restaurant review in Palma

Location
Palma de Mallorca

Restaurante Tomeu is headed up by Tomeu Caldentey, who was the first Mallorcan chef to receive a Michelin star. His Mallorcan original, Es Moli d'en Bou received a Michelin star and has built up an enviable reputation since 2004. So, when news broke that he would be opening a new restaurant in Palma in the summer of 2017, it became the talk of the town and quickly featured on every foodie’s hit list.

Stepping into Restaurante Bugambilia is stepping into a love story. In 1978 a Danish couple, having fallen in love with the island, bought a house in the area of Cala Major and came to know the restaurant owner, Julio.

Trendy tapas in Palma de Mallorca in 2019

Trendy tapas in Palma de Mallorca

Much more than simply a plate of food and ingrained in Spanish society, tapas is part of their institution, perfectly conveying the relaxed take on mealtime etiquette. Mallorca’s best restaurants are constantly creating new and imaginative ways to prepare and enjoy these mouth-watering dishes. What better way to spend those balmy summer evenings, than by sharing modestly sized, delicious plates of food with a crisp large glass of local wine?

Gaudeix Restaurant example dish

Gaudeix Restaurant Review

Location
Palma de Mallorca

Tucked away in the back-streets of the old town, Gaudeix is another of one of Palma’s gems - just a few minutes’ stroll off Passeig del Borne. Take the narrow Carrer de San Feliu on the opposite side of the Passeig to the Cathedral - (you’ll see a sign for Rialto Living as you turn), and you should find Gaudeix on your right-hand side after 200 metres or so.

Quadrat Restaurant review, Palma Centre & Marina

Quadrat Restaurant review

Location
Palma de Mallorca

In the depths of Palma’s old town, on Plaza de Sant Francesc, resides a neoclassical style 19th-century mansion, which has been transformed to become Hotel Sant Francesc. This little boutique hotel has many charms from its original character through to its elegant accommodation, chic lobby bar and rooftop sushi restaurant, but on Valentine’s Day I went along to try out the renowned Quadrat Restaurant.

Ribello Restaurant Review

Location
Palma de Mallorca

The Canadian knows what she likes and she likes what she knows. After enjoying spaghetti bolognese at Tanto Amore a few months ago, whenever I have suggested getting Italian food or even just eating out in Mallorca, she has suggested a return to Santa Catalina.

Quina Creu Restaurant Review

Quina Creu Restaurant Review

If you are in search of a quirky Spanish tapas restaurant in Palma, then this one’s for you! Despite its location on a cobbled backstreet buried in the depths of Palma’s old town, Quina Creu has deservedly built up a devoted fan base in the city and we thought we would go and see what all the fuss was about!
