Ummo Restaurant Review, Santa Catalina

Location
Palma de Mallorca

We first discovered Ummo on a tapas trail event known as TaPalma. This five day long festival in Mallorca’s capital city Palma, sees restaurants and bars competing against each other to create original & delicious tapas, which are then judged by a selected committee. Ummo has won the main prize three years running so clearly it is a force to be reckoned within the world of tapas.

Bonaire Bistro & Cafe - Review

Location
Palma de Mallorca

We are always on the look-out for decent lunch spots in Palma, where you know you'll get a decent quality lunch at reasonable prices in convivial surroundings - preferably outside on a terrace. So after an impromptu shopping trip on of Avinguda Jaume III, we found ourselves on C/Bonaire (which is just off this main shopping thoroughfare). There are a number of cafes and bars on this street, and it's a popular lunch spot with local workers as well as visitors.

Opio Restaurant Review

Location
Palma de Mallorca

The Frenchman recently had a couple of his countrymen over to visit for the weekend. Parisian to boot, the pressure was on to find somewhere suitably ‘chic et sophistiqué, cherie' to impress our visitors on a Friday night in Mallorca.

Aquiara Tapas Bar - Review

Location
Palma de Mallorca

The Frenchman is one of those people who puts great store by awards and medals, so when we did a search of Mallorca's best restaurants, and saw that a restaurant called Koldo Royo had held a Michelin star for 18 years, it went straight to the top of our list. Run by a chef of the same name, Koldo Royo had gained rave reviews and was considered a flagship restaurant in Palma. I said that I was sure it had closed down a couple of years ago. Nonsense, said the Frenchman, showing me pages from the web with reviews and contact details for the restaurant.

Wasabi Blue Restaurant Review, Ciudad Jardin

Palma de Mallorca

It’s been said for a while now that the town of Ciudad Jardin is becoming the ‘next big thing’ for hip and happening places to be.

Es Jardinet Restaurant - Review

Location
Palma de Mallorca

A Friday night is never a good night to be sat at home in Palma, with no food in the fridge, and no real thought about where would be good to grab a nice meal. The Frenchman and I pondered our choices from the comfort of the sofa, knowing that as soon as we stepped outside we would be destined to trample the streets for at least an hour searching for a mutually acceptable restaurant.

Mari-Lin Cafe Lounge Restaurant Review

Mari-Lin Cafe Lounge Restaurant Review

Location
Palma de Mallorca

It's a delight to step into Mari-Lin Café-Lounge. It has a definite Parisian vibe. Swirling grey marble top tables are decorated with single stems of pink carnations, there are rose-coloured rattan chairs and the walls are hung with oil paintings and cast brass candelabras. While the interior offers a setting of relaxed sophistication, those wanting to enjoy the sunshine and a spot of people-watching will love the alfresco seating.

El plato del dia, Parrilla Buenos Aires, Cala Major

Parrilla Buenos Aires Restaurant Review

Beef is the main attraction here with quality cuts slow-cooked on a traditional Argentine grill, giving it that delicious barbeque flavour.

Tasca de Blanquerna Restaurant

Location
Palma de Mallorca

Placa Espana is the major transport hub in the centre of Palma. It is where most of the buses & trains start their journeys, and where you catch the traditional wooden train to Soller. As such, there are a number of less refined dining establishments in the area, where you can fork out not insignificant sums for rather ordinary fare (no transport pun intended!). So it is good to know that there are some seriously good alternatives in the vicinity where you are guaranteed a good feed at a decent price.

Lured in by their regular postings of delicious local produce on their Twitter account - I recently managed to pop in to Es Rebost in Palma centre to see if they are as good on-plate as online!

Mallorca is known for its array of restaurants and eclectic cuisine so it was no surprise when last year alone there were 6 Michelin stars awarded on the island.

Discreetly located in an unassuming street in the old town of Palma lies one of the islands most talked about restaurants. Marc Fosh is one of those celebrity chefs who has an opinion and is not afraid to share them.

Stepping into Restaurante Bugambilia is stepping into a love story. In 1978 a Danish couple, having fallen in love with the island, bought a house in the area of Cala Major and came to know the restaurant owner, Julio.

Quina Creu Restaurant Review

If you are in search of a quirky Spanish tapas restaurant in Palma, then this one’s for you! Despite its location on a cobbled backstreet buried in the depths of Palma’s old town, Quina Creu has deservedly built up a devoted fan base in the city and we thought we would go and see what all the fuss was about!
