Last summer, I came across Ca'n Pintxo whilst strolling around the charming streets of Sóller. An energetic vibe came from this particular establishment which was tucked away down a pretty side street, less than a hundred metres from the main square. Having just had dinner elsewhere that evening, I made a promise to myself to return to check it out.
**NO LONGER OPEN** The Frenchman and I arrived in Port d’Andratx without really knowing where we wanted to eat. So we parked up and had a wander around the back streets and the waterfront, perusing menus and clientele. As you might expect, there are a host of fish restaurants, ranging from rustic local hang-outs to smart, linen-tablecloth establishments. We first discovered Ummo on a tapas trail event known as TaPalma. It's a delight to step into Mari-Lin Café-Lounge. It has a definite Parisian vibe. Swirling grey marble top tables are decorated with single stems of pink carnations, there are rose-coloured rattan chairs and the walls are hung with oil paintings and cast brass candelabras.
