Mallorca is known for its array of restaurants and eclectic cuisine so it was no surprise when last year alone there were 6 Michelin stars awarded on the island.

We first discovered Ummo on a tapas trail event known as TaPalma. This five day long festival in Mallorca’s capital city Palma, sees restaurants and bars competing against each other to create original & delicious tapas, which are then judged by a selected committee. Ummo has won the main prize three years running so clearly it is a force to be reckoned within the world of tapas.

On Saturday, February 1st, I went along to the 2nd edition of The SuppER Club, hosted by The Van Mallorca. This was a Japanese evening held at the trendy Zunray Yoga Studio on Calle Sant Feliu.

The name DaiCa is a fusion of the names of the team behind it, David and Caterina – both with extensive experience in lots of excellent restaurants across Mallorca and mainland Spain, the pair have now turned their culinary hands to running a small restaurant and hotel in the beautiful village of Llubi, in the centre of the island near Inca.

The Carrossa Hotel Spa Villas is a new 5-star hotel in the north-east of Mallorca, near the quaint town of Arta. It’s the latest venture of the Hamacher family, famous for their hideaway resorts in Austria. Following suit, this resort hotel sits away from the beaten track of Mallorca’s tourist hot spots in favour of the island's captivating countryside.

We were intrigued recently to find a new restaurant in the top 10 restaurants for Mallorca in TripAdvisor. We don’t actually find that the rankings in TripAdvisor help us to find what we call ‘good restaurants’.

Port de Sóller, whilst a popular holiday destination, still has a strong sense of its fishing port roots when you arrive at the waterfront. This, of course, means that there’s an abundance of fresh seafood restaurants around its scenic horseshoe bay.

On a mild summer evening, we headed to the south of Mallorca to sample the culinary delights of yet another outstanding hotel on the island. Hotel Es Lloquet – The Secret Place could quite possibly be Mallorca’s best-kept secret! In the deepest depths of Mallorca’s countryside, just south of Campos down a small dirt track, is where you'll find this charming establishment.

The Frenchman and I were joined by James (creator our of our site videos) last weekend as we ventured out after a heavier-than-anticipated night in the bars of Palma. Our rather ill-timed destination was the wineries of Binissalem - it was enough to make us break out into a cold sweat. The wisdom of this choice was discussed on the journey, and was unanimously kicked into touch in favour of - you've guessed it - lunch.

Nestled in the foothills of north-west Mallorca sits the majestic Son Brull Hotel & Spa. Once a monastery, this imposing building has been beautifully restored and then modernised to create the classic old-meets-new interior - we were immediately impressed... You enter the hotel through the most enormous glass door, just opening it brought a smile to our faces with its sheer grandueur and weight; and continue into the inner courtyard where the horses were once kept.

La Terrazza is the absolute gem of Alcanada’s eateries, just a five minute drive away from busy Port D’Alcudia, hidden from the road by brush and trees and situated on a little point jutting into the sea, this restaurant feels like a little secluded spot of luxury.

Stepping into Restaurante Bugambilia is stepping into a love story. In 1978 a Danish couple, having fallen in love with the island, bought a house in the area of Cala Major and came to know the restaurant owner, Julio.

Having seen Toque restaurant with its Belgian-Mediterranean cuisine always at the top of the charts on Trip Advisor in Palma, I decided it was time to see what all the fuss was about, so booked myself in for dinner last week with a few friends.

Il Paradiso is one of the most intriguing restaurants I have eaten in on Mallorca. Located in Cala Major, just west of Palma, this Italian restaurant sits sandwiched between the Marivent Palace (the official Mallorcan residence of the Spanish Royal family), the Bay of Palma, and a busy road.

The Corb Marie is a beautiful restaurant set slightly back from the pine walk in Puerto Pollensa, specializing in grilled meat and fish. There is a lovely garden area in front of the restaurant, with tables surrounded by flowers and trees and great views of the pine walk and the sea beyond.
