This week I decided to go on a spontaneous trip out to Nola, Palma’s very own Cajun and Creole food experience.
Mallorca has a number of very smart hotels linked to golf courses and spas. They tend to be housed in (very) grand properties surrounded by beautiful countryside, and offer a unique escape from everyday living.
On Saturday, February 1st, I went along to the 2nd edition of The SuppER Club, hosted by The Van Mallorca. This was a Japanese evening held at the trendy Zunray Yoga Studio on Calle Sant Feliu.
Kuroböta restaurant is situated in Santa Catalina, Palma’s trendy gastronomic district, and, having been recommended it by a foodie friend of mine, I had been meaning to give this place a try for a while. Being sister to renowned restaurant Koh, Kuroböta had a lot to live up to. This little treasure positions itself as an eatery delivering a modern Japanese-East Asian fusion tapas experience.
Forn de Sant Joan has been one of our favourite restaurants in Mallorca since our first visit three years ago.
I have a new favourite place in Mallorca and it is 5Oceanos Restaurant and Chill Out in Mal Pas, Alcudia.
Son Julia Country House & Spa isn’t only to be enjoyed by hotel guests, anyone can dine at their first-class Las Bovedas Restaurant. Having eaten here before, I have fallen madly in love with the outdoor terrace. The tables are always elegantly set, and there’s such a magical ambiance in the golden hour before sundown.
Deia is one of Mallorca’s most renowned villages. Situated on the west coast where the Tramuntana mountains dive down into the sea, this picture perfect village is a million miles away from the purpose-built Majorca holiday resorts you find on the north, south & east coasts.
The BBQ Nights on Thursdays in the summer are a popular event at Ca’s Xorc Boutique Hotel & Restaurant. For €59 per person, you get all the food you could possibly want to eat, including half a bottle of wine, water, dessert and coffee! So, on a particularly balmy evening, we decided to take on their flaming feast.
There’s a danger in resort towns of filling the streets with restaurant after restaurant, offering traditional and local menus to the exclusion of all other food, and wonderful though tapas and paella are, occasionally even tourists are going to fancy something else.
Lured in by their regular postings of delicious local produce on their Twitter account - I recently managed to pop in to Es Rebost in Palma centre to see if they are as good on-plate as online!
If you’re looking for a restaurant that stands out from the crowd look no further than La Botigueta & Sushi in the centre of Pollenca.
Much more than simply a plate of food and ingrained in Spanish society, tapas is part of their institution, perfectly conveying the relaxed take on mealtime etiquette. Mallorca’s best restaurants are constantly creating new and imaginative ways to prepare and enjoy these mouth-watering dishes. What better way to spend those balmy summer evenings, than by sharing modestly sized, delicious plates of food with a crisp large glass of local wine?
If you are in search of a quirky Spanish tapas restaurant in Palma, then this one’s for you! Despite its location on a cobbled backstreet buried in the depths of Palma’s old town, Quina Creu has deservedly built up a devoted fan base in the city and we thought we would go and see what all the fuss was about!
Casa Font i Roig is one of the many historical dwellings that have been converted into small boutique establishments in Mallorca. Many of these places have top-notch restaurants and, in the summer months, they often offer themed evenings like BBQ or Tapas Nights. So, on a warm summers evening, we went along to try Casa Font i Roig’s Friday night BBQ bonanza.
For laid back lunch times and easy dinners with a beach view head to El Bistro on Puerto Pollenca’s waterfront strip.
The brunching concept has been taking the world by storm and Mallorca is no exception. If you're after a long and lazy brunch with family or friends on any day of the week, then there are quite a few fantastic places popping up all over the island.
Having seen Toque restaurant with its Belgian-Mediterranean cuisine always at the top of the charts on Trip Advisor in Palma, I decided it was time to see what all the fuss was about, so booked myself in for dinner last week with a few friends.
