Corb Mari Restaurant Review, Puerto Pollenca

Great quality grilled meats & fish in the Port de Pollenca

The Corb Marie is a beautiful restaurant set slightly back from the pine walk in Puerto Pollensa, specializing in grilled meat and fish. There is a lovely garden area in front of the restaurant, with tables surrounded by flowers and trees and great views of the pine walk and the sea beyond.

We arrived in the middle of the evening’s service during the peak season without a reservation and were immediately seated in the centre of the busy terrace.  Our order of olives and bread was taken quickly so that we could enjoy some nibbles whilst browsing the extensive wine and food menus.

Looking at large cuts of meat arriving to neighbouring tables, it was difficult to resist the selection of steak, lamb and pork options on offer. As a result, our party of three opted for the rib eye, the filet steak and the leg of lamb, but the menu also includes a very tempting paella and a selection of grilled fish dishes.

Our starters of grilled baby squid and padron peppers were excellent, although perhaps only necessary for those with a big appetite given what was to follow. These were also accompanied by a taster of a small grilled sausage, served by a passing waiter directly from a large kebab stick.

The sides for the main, of chips, grilled vegetables and a very tasty rice dish with sultanas, arrived first for us to serve ourselves. Then followed three very impressive pieces of meat! The enormous ribeye steak was actually quite imposing and, although certainly cooked to be ‘medium’ as ordered, this was perhaps a little rich and rare in the middle given the portion size, so could have been ordered a little more well done. The fillet steak was a smaller portion and was perfectly cooked. The leg of lamb, barely fitting on the plate, was without a doubt the largest meal that I had ever been served in a restaurant. I’ll put the fact that I finished the whole thing down to the excellent quality of the tender meat and the tasty mint sauce accompaniment…!

The only disappointment after the main was that none of us had any room left to sample a dessert! We did enjoy coffee and digestifs however to prolong our time in this idyllic setting.

The Corb Marie is a great option for a special meal out, with excellent quality food. The selection of meats and fish are presented at the counter inside the restaurant and then are grilled and brought to the table still sizzling, giving a very entertaining dining experience. Naturally, the prices are relatively high given this quality – expect to pay around 50€ per person for two courses with wine and coffees.
