Christmas markets in Palma de Mallorca

Feeling festive yet? If you can't quite believe that Santa will be whooshing through the skies in a couple of weeks time, maybe you should head into Palma where the Christmas markets are now in full swing! Head to Placa Espana for stalls selling all sorts of gifts and hats and scarves, or try Placa Major for a huge selection of religious and Christmas figurines. Placa Major is also where you can buy Christmas decorations, more gifts and you may even spot Santa himself!

On the Ramblas and Via Roma are more markets selling handicrafts and jewellery, also try Passeig Sagrera. At the La Misericòrdia cultural centre, there is a charity market where your cash will go towards good causes.

For the children, there is an ice skating arena in the Parc de ses Estacions (just north of Placa Espana), and it's open from 10am to 10pm. A 'Christmas train' for kids will run from 5pm to 8pm, starting at Placa Cort before touring around Palma's historic centre. Street performers & puppet shows are also on hand to keep the little ones entertained. Check out a traditional nativity scene in the lobby of the town hall whilst you're around Placa Cort.

The Christmas markets are not just restricted to Palma of course. Valldemossa, Santa Ponsa, Puerto Portals & Alaro all have Christmas markets - check local press for details.

Midnight mass will be held in Palma Cathedral on the 24th December at 11pm, and the traditional recital of La Sibil-la will be held in the Church of Santa Eulalia on the 26th December at 7.30pm - email or call +34 678 740 192 for information & tickets.
