Filming for the British film 'A Long Way Down' is coming to Mallorca and its stars include 007 actor Pierce Brosnan, Jurrasic Park actor Sam Neill, Toni Collette from The Sixth Sense and Aaron Paul from hit TV show Breaking Bad.

Directed by French filmmaker Pascal Chaumeill, the budget for the film is €15m and several scenes will be filmed here in Mallorca. Filming begins tomorrow at Mallorca's airport Son Sant Joan in Palma where they will film for two days before travelling around the island for a further eight days.

Filming will take advantage of Mallorca's coastal beach area in Camp de Mar and will also film inside shots at the Hotel Playa and the chiringuito snack bar, La Illeta. Production team Palma Pictures has assisted in the plans to shoot scenes of the film in Mallorca and say they have a good relationship with British filming.

The screenplay for 'A Long Way Down' has been adapted and written by Jack Thorne and is taken from the book by British novelist Nick Hornby. It is about four people who meet on New Year's Eve and form a 'surrogate family' to help each other through difficulties in their lives. The film is scheduled to premiere in 2013.

'A Long Way Down' is just one of many films shot recently in Mallorca. Last year actress Halle Berry and actor Tom Hanks were here to shoot the independent film' Cloud Atlas' which will be released on 22nd Feb 2013 and has already received 8.4/10 on imdb.com. Other films include The Inbetweeners Movie and the Sky TV series Mad Dogs.
