I succumbed to the nagging and took the kids to Western Water Park in Magaluf last week. It is always one of their favourite days out on the island, and this time (fourth visit) lived up to the usual expectations and provided instant excitement and wonder.

A group of regular riders from Mallorca’s foremost natural horse care stable have just made their annual horse-back riding pilgrimage. They rode for two days, stopping for a picnic and a restaurant lunch and staying overnight at the monastery at Lluc.

Mallorca is well known as a road biking haven, with lots of pro teams training on the beautiful roads during the cooler months of the year. The mountainous terrain coupled with the beautiful and varied coastline provides some great climbs with phenomenal views. The relatively short ride from Puerto Pollensa to the Cap de Formentor is a great example of this, with panoramic views of the bay rewarding the short climb from town.

Living near the sea in the Port of Soller, Majorca, has many advantages. Waking to the sight of the perfect horse shoe bay surrounded by mountains is still a thrill. The beach is coming to life with strategically placed tin bins which are used by the local bar owners to burn the bamboo.

It is common knowledge that in order to find the best views of anything, one needs to go up! I am certainly a firm believer in this theory and it was with this goal that I set out one Sunday afternoon to reach the top of the island!

"The Big Blue" is Palma Aquarium's shark tank. It's the deepest tank in Europe and as well as four different species of shark, two species of ray and many assorted fish, it holds three and a half million litres of sea water. For €200 (which includes hire of all the equipment), you can add yourself to that list.

Palma is a really bike friendly city. The giveaway is the prominent red cycle route running all along the Paseo Maritimo and through the city centre. The weather is perfect for it too. Despite the obvious benefits of urban exploration on two wheels, Palma on Bike was my first experience of cycling in the capital. 

S’Albufera is the largest and most important wetlands in the Balearic Islands, a bird watchers paradise and a peaceful place to wander.

“I have an idea for an activity I’d like you to check out” Ellie said and she pitched the activity to me; I was pretty amazed just listening to her description. That wasn’t a patch on how amazed and exhilarated I was after my session with Flyboard Mallorca.
