Belmond La Residencia in Deia is renowned for providing it's guests with the ideal space for rest & relaxation. One of its many delights consists of the extensive gardens and land attached to the property. But what many guests do not realise is that the entire hillside rising up behind the hotel also forms part of the property’s cultural and scenic heritage.

On a bright and sunny autumn day in October, I was invited to go out on some jet skis with a group of friends as a way of enjoying the last few days of summer in Mallorca. When a post for the Mallorca Hiking Club popped up on Facebook on a miserable February day, it immediately grabbed my attention. The January day was just a little foggy, with the promise of brightness to come and a winter picnic beckoned.
