Alphaville takes to the stage in Port Adriano
Alphaville is a German synth pop and new wave band that was very popular in the 1980s. Their most popular songs were Big in Japan, Sound Like a Melody and Forever Young, all contained on their debut album and Forever Young from 1984.
The story of Alphaville, whose initial name was Forever Young, begins in Münster, Germany, in the early 1980s. The band formed in 1982 with three key members: Marian Gold (lead vocals), Bernhard Lloyd (keyboards and backing vocals ) and Frank Mertens (keyboards and percussion). Inspired by the growing electronic music scene of the time, and artists such as Kraftwerk and David Bowie, the band ventured into creating their own sound. Alphaville contributed significantly to the evolution of electronic music . His focus on synthesizers, layering of sound, and introspective lyrics influenced a generation of musicians who immersed themselves in electronic synthesis.
Although they reached the peak of their popularity in the 1980s, the band has continued to create music and tour over the years. Founding member and lead vocalist Marian Gold remains a charismatic figure on the music scene, and Alphaville 's music continues to be appreciated by a wide audience around the world.
