Mallorca Day

The celebration of Mallorca's freedom and founding

featured in Events Calendar Updated

September the 12th is Mallorca Day when Mallorca celebrates the pledge made in 1276 by Jaume II which gave the country it's bill of rights. It is also the celebration of Jaume I victory over the Muslims some fifty years ealier that reclaimed Mallorca.

As such it's a celebration of Mallorca winning back her land and establishing herself as a Kingdom. The celebration usually involves music and processions through the streets with giant figures of Mallorcan people walking through the streets.

The celebrations are not confined to one day though and there are events on throughout the week. See the programme in the web link above.
