Mallorcan wins Tui Palma marathon for the third time

Sa Pobla athlete Miquel Capo Soler won the 7th Palma marathon in 2 hours 20 minutes and 23 seconds. Alain Wolf (Germany) came second with a time of 2:33.15 and Daniel Skaanig (Denmark) was third. The women's race was won by German Sonja Oberem, with a record time of 2 hours 47 minutes and 29 seconds.

A record 8,368 runners participated in the marathon, half marathon, 10km run and Nordic walking events, which represents a 14% increase in numbers over last year. The day was touched with tragedy when a 49 year old German man suffered a heart attack whilst competing in the 10km race, and all attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.

The Tui marathon organisers have confirmed that next years race will be held on 16th October 2011 in Palma, Majorca. More information can be found on their website.
