O'zapft is!

The Bavarian expression 'O'zapft is' meaning ‘it’s tapped’ is normally said at noon on the first day of Oktoberfest when the Mayor of Munich traditionally taps the first keg of beer, which marks the official opening of the festival.

This was exclaimed yesterday in Santa Ponsa to officially kick off their Oktoberfest at Placa de la Pineda, an event that will last all the way through until the 12th October. vast numbers of people from various countries will descend upon the area to join in the traditional German festivities. Along with typical British and German tourists they expect to see many Spaniards enjoying the occasion too, with an estimated 8,000 to 10,000 visitors over the course of the celebrations.

So Prost! (German for ‘cheers’, not only useful for Oktoberfest!) and have a great weekend.
