Picasso's €10M pottery for free at Es Baluard

A collection of Pablo Picasso's ceramics recently went on sale at Christie's in London and fetched 10 million Euro's. The collection was expected to raise a total of 2 million pounds but bids from Russian collectors pushed the prices past the house estimates.

The "Madoura Collection" was owned by Picasso's friend and college Alain Ramie, the son of the original owners of the Madoura Pottery where Picasso was first encouraged to try his rather talented hand at pottery in 1946. It became a love of the artist's and he continued to produce work on ceramics until his death in 1973.

Although the Christie's collection has all been sold there are chances to see some of Picasso's ceramics, produced in the same workshop, at Es Baluard here in Palma. The gallery has an entire room dedicated to the pottery of Picasso and tomorrow the doors to the gallery are open for free for St Peter's day.
