The town of Inca, Mallorca, has been chosen as the location for a new production facility for the RenOn hybrid solar collector. The hybrid solar collectors produce both electricity and heat simultaneously and are considered the greatest innovation in solar panel technology to date.

On April 18th the board of directors of Global Immune Technologies, Inc. announced that its partner, RenOn, will produce its hybrid solar collectors in a factory in Inca. Approximately 20 million euros will be invested in the new facility and 45 jobs created. Uwe Vincent, chief of R&D, announced that the plant will start operations as early as August.

The project has the support of both the Spanish government and the employment office, which will also finance training courses for new employees.

Before the financial crisis, Spain had one of the world's most ambitious plans to boost the amount of electricity generated from the sun. Government subsidies for such initiatives were slashed in late 2010.
