The Calvia Beach Resort, Mallorca will be the first place in Europe to have a Flow Barrel wave machine as of this summer. With a Double Flow Rider also in the park it is going to make the previously surf-less Magaluf beach in Majorca one of easiest places to catch waves in the Med.

The two machines are being installed at the brand new four star Sun Wave House Hotel in the Calvia Beach resort (Magaluf). The hotel which has been completed, astonishingly, in less than a year will open this June and is part of the Melia Sol International chain.

The Sun Wave House will be the first of four hotels that will form a complex with the aim of re-inventing Magaluf as the Calvia Beach Resort. The wave pools will be the main attraction at the new Sun Wave and promise to bring something to the Med that has almost never been seen before in the summer; surfable waves.

Surf very seldom hits the Mediterranean unless a number of weather conditions come together all at once and the wait for a paddle between these elusive days can be long but now Mallorca has a solution. The two wave pools at the new Calvia hotel will allow novices to surf on a smooth unbreaking wave with a friend on the Double Flow Rider and on a proper barrelling wave on the Flow Barrel.

The machines use large water pumps and specially engineered surfaces to create smooth consistent waves that even beginners can ride and as they are made of a cushioned surface wipe-outs don't hurt.

The Hotel opens this June and there are already live DJs and parties lined up for the poolside as well as consistent, clear barrels. Surf's Up!
