Palma-Born Jorge Lorenzo Wins MotoGP Title
Lorenzo's victory in Valencia last Sunday launched him to the first place
Jorge Lorenzo, born 28 years ago in Palma, beat Valentino Rossi who arrived in Valencia seven points ahead of the Mallorcan.
The last part of the competition was dominated by controversy after Rossi appeared to kick Marc Márquez off his motorbike at the Malaysian Grand Prix in late October. The Italian was forced to start at the back of the grid in Valencia as a penalty, losing most of his chances of wining the title.
This is Lorenzo's third MotoGP title after 2010 and 2012. Rossi achieved second place and Márquez was third.
