Most of the airlines flying to Palma's Son Son Sant Joan and Ibiza airport have decided to increase the frequency of their routes from Spain and Europe to the Balearics this offseason. A few new destinations have also been added to those already operating on the islands last winter.

The promotion of Mallorca as a winter destination has been going on for years and it looks like a whole host of international airlines are banking on its success. More than 55 Spanish and European cities will boast direct routes to the Balearics this winter, including new off-season flights to Vienna, Stuttgart, Rome and A Coruña.

Frequencies and seats are also increasing. Norwegian, for example, has announced that they'll be offering 40% more places than last year while Vueling is expanding a 32.4%, Eurowings is offering three times more seats to the islands and Iberia Express is growing an 18% compared to last winter. This means that there'll be more chances to fly to Mallorca and that prices will likely go down.

Spain and Germany top the list in terms of the number of destinations offered to and from Mallorca this winter. These include regular flights connecting the Balearics and Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Ibiza, Alicante, Granada, Bilbao, Zaragoza, Sevilla, Málaga, Asturias, Santiago de Compostela, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Mahó and A Coruña. Many German cities will also be linked to Mallorca this winter including Berlin (Schonefeld and Tegel), Hamburg, Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart, Dusseldorf, Koln, Bremen, Dortmund and Karlsruhe.

There will also be flights to several UK destinations including London (City, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton), Manchester, Liverpool and Bristol, as well as to the Scandinavian capitals of Oslo, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki and Goteborg. Other winter routes will fly from Palma to the French cities of Paris, Bordeaux, Lyon and Nantes, Zurich and Basel in Switzerland or Milan and Rome in Italy. European destinations will also include Vienna, Salzburg, Brussels, Eindhoven and Warsaw.

Plenty of opportunities to book a winter escapade to Mallorca this year! Start looking at flights and accommodation now and enjoy the Mediterranean sunshine at a fraction of the high season price.
