The state-of-the-art marina designed by Philippe Starck becomes a creative hub for up and coming film directors with their second Short Film Contest.

After last years’ success, Port Adriano kicked off their second Short Film Contest with a press conference at Cineciutat in Palma yesterday.

Some of this years’ judges from Port Adriano, AICO, EMIFF, RECBLAU and Cineciutat were present at the presentation and discussed the objectives of the competition. In its quest for cultural promotion and support for the arts, Port Adriano and its facilities (including its restaurants, bars, shops and watersports centre) will act as a film set for those who want to compete in the event. With up to 11,000€ in prizes up for grabs this year, the contest is already in a league with some of Spain’s most prominent audio-visual competitions.

A great opportunity for budding film directors (whether they believe themselves to be amateurs or professionals) to show their talent to the world.

Some of the key rules and regulations:

  • It is free to participate in the competition.
  • Each film can be any type of audiovisual work, a music video, short film, or video art and must be under 5 minutes in length.
  • At least half of the filming should be shot in Port Adriano.
  • Entries must be submitted before the 23rd April 2017.
  • Finalists' works will be screened on the 6th May at Cineciutat at a closing gala and awards ceremony.
  • First prize 5000€, second prize 3,000€, and third prize 1,500€. Additional awards will be given for ‘Best Short Film under 1 minute’, ‘Best Technical Effects’ and awards for the ‘Best Male and Female Performances’.
