Along with fellow Spaniard and friend Enrique Iglesias, Rafael Nadal is set to open a chain of restaurants called 'Tatel', the first of which will be in Madrid.

According to sources the tennis champion, currently ranked number 3, and the multi-award winning singer are planning to open their first restaurant in March this year. Teaming up with basketball star Pau Gasol and businessman Abel Matutes Prats, the entrepreneurial group hope to expand and have further restaurants planned for Ibiza, Barcelona, London and Las Vegas.

"The food of our country is very famous," a spokesperson for the investors said. "There are many Spanish restaurants but none have tried to become the reference at a national or even international level."

With a 1920's themed interior the Madrid restaurant will offer 800 square metres for guests and their dining experience, plus the possibility of a surprise performance by one of the superstar owners! Lets hope it is more of a musical surprise than a 'slam dunk' in your soup or a high speed serve across the bar!
