'Unintended Sculptures' by Hendrik Saxgren
An exhibition at the CCA Andratx
The CCA Andratx is hosting an exhibition by acclaimed Danish photographer, Henrik Saxgren. Entitled ‘Unintended Sculptures', the collection of photographs or ‘sculptures' shows visually stunning creations, in the most obscure places. With this body of work Saxgren is commenting on man's unintentional effect on the natural world; sometimes devastating and, at other times, strangely beautiful.
Some of the large format photographs date back to 2001. The exhibition was shown in Copenhagen in 2009 when it also became the subject of a published book.
Born in 1953, Saxgren is an internationally recognised photojournalist covering subjects as diverse as immigration in the Nordics and street kids in Nicaragua. Since the 1990s, he has published seven books, exhibited in some 40 solo and group exhibitions around the world and received numerous grants and awards.
