First Forest Fire of the year in Camp de Mar
Firefighters brought the fire under control quickly
A fire plane and helicopter were put into use again at the end of last week as a forest fire tore through a pine forest in Camp de Mar.
Around half an acre of pine forest was destroyed before the fire crews could get it under control.
Last summer saw a massive evacuation of around 700 people from Estellencs, also in the South West of the Island which was believed to have been started by a barbecue. The cause of this recent fire is as yet unknown. Please remember that open fires and discarding cigarette butts in natural areas on Mallorca is prohibited.
