German Tourist drowns in Cala Ratjada
20 year old drowns in Mallorca beach resort after night out drinking
A 20 year old German man was found dead in the water in Cala Ratjada marina in Mallorca yesterday morning.
The holiday maker, who has been identified as Jan FD, was out drinking in Cala Ratjada on the north east of Mallorca. Despite being out with friends there were no witnesses to the accident and his companions did not notice that he was missing for several hours.
The Police have studied CCTV footage from security cameras in the harbour that show the young man climbing onto one of the boats in the marina when he tried to return to the quayside he slipped and fell into the water. After an initial struggle he managed to pull himself from the water and staggered along the dockside but a few moments later he was seen to stumble again and fall into the water where his feet became tangled in the mooring lines and he drowned.
The other members of the young man's party did not notice he was missing until the following morning. Judicial Police said that the body showed no signs of violence and investigators have confirmed the drowning was accidental.
