Harvey Keitel and his wife, actress and director Daphna Kastner, were in Mallorca last week developing the screenplay for a new film and scouting locations for filming.

Set between New York and Mallorca, ‘Holiday in Mallorca' (working title), is a romantic drama based on an American (Keitel) who runs into trouble in New York and escapes to the Spanish island of Mallorca. Kastner will play a smaller part as an unsuccessful backing singer.

The low-budget movie will be put out to producers when Kastner finishes the screenplay this winter, with the film due to be shot in late 2012.

During the visit Keitel also took the time to support a series of free screenings of his films, organised by the Mallorcan Film Commission. Keitel attended a question and answer session on the opening night, held at the Caixa Forum on Friday evening. The screeings, which include iconic films such as Scorsese's Mean Streets and Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs, began on Saturday and run until Friday 28th July.
