New attempt to create Holy Land theme park in Mallorca

Developers now want to build 'Jerusalem' in Inca

Promotors of a Holy Land theme park have identified land in the Santa Magdalena district of Inca, just to the east of the Palma-Alcudia motorway, where they would like to re-create the town of Jerusalem in the time of Jesus of Nazareth.

Plans are to be presented to Inca's town council, with the final say being had by the Ministry of Tourism and the Consell de Mallorca (the Balearic Government). Currently there is no land in the municipality that allows the building of theme parks, so re-zoning of rural land would have to be agreed.

This is the thrid attempt by developers to find land on which to build this theme park in Mallorca. Two previous attempts were rejected by Capdepera and Ses Salines.

The developers point to an already existing and successful Holy Land theme park in Buenos Aires called Tierra Santa. Re-enactments, shows and demonstrations can all be enjoyed in Tierra Santa, although the park lacks the more typical 'thrilling rides' that most theme parks offer.

The Mallorcan proposal is to create a religious theme park that will transport visitors back to the time of Jesus. Parts of Jerusalem will be reproduced, and there will also be areas devoted to other religions such as Islam and Judaism. We can't wait.
