The area will be completely regenerated during the next 5 years

More good news arriving from London's World Travel Market! The Magaluf area will undergo a full 5-year makeover to erase its image as a party town and turn it into a family destination.

The project involves 10 private companies, as well as the Balearic Government and Calvià's town council. They will invest in the area to extend the tourist season from March to October, and tap into the family tourism market with improved sports facilities and a larger offer of shopping, food & drink and cultural activities.

Renovations in the area started in 2012 with the arrival of new hotel chains, mainly Melia who have invested 190€ million in Magaluf, rebranding the south-end of the resort as Calvià Beach. Measures were strengthened this season with new laws to stop anti-social behaviour, and even the arrival of British police in Mallorca to help local officers.
