At least 7 people arrested & life-time flying ban imposed

As flights started arriving in Mallorca from the UK this weekend, it seems as though some folk could not wait for their holiday to start and instead began drinking heavily before departure, resulting in some unacceptable behaviour onboard flights.

A group of 6 men who apparently caused chaos on a Ryanair flight from Prestwick, bound for Mallorca, were arrested upon arrival, before they even made it to their destination of Magaluf. Police were called by the flight attendants who said the group were becoming abusive on the 7am flight.

A statement released by Ryanair said: "We will not tolerate unruly or disruptive behaviour and we sincerely apologised to other customers for any inconvenience caused.

"The safety and comfort of our customers, crew and aircraft is our number one priority.

"This is now a matter for local police."

Meanwhile on a Jet2 flight from East Midlands Airport to Mallorca a 22 year old from Grimsby is said to have exposed himself to staff and passengers and has incurred a life-time ban from flying with the airline.

A spokesperson for Jet2.com said: "Jet2.com has given a lifetime ban to Grimsby man, Thomas Washington, for indecently exposing himself to cabin crew on a flight to Majorca last Friday, May 1.

"The airline refused his return travel to East Midlands Airport and has also reported the incident to the police."

And to round off what seems to have been quite a dramatic Saturday of travel, an easyjet flight from Bristol Airport, bound for Mallorca, was delayed for an hour as police were called to remove a passenger before take off. A group of around 25 men from a rugby club in Wales were said to be already drunk when they boarded the plane and then became abusive when staff refused to serve them more alcohol. Police were called when other passengers became concerned about their safety and felt threatened.

A spokesman for EasyJet said: “Flight EZY6039 from Bristol to Palma on April 26 was met by police in Bristol due to a passenger on board behaving in a disruptive manner.

“The safety and wellbeing of passengers and crew is always EasyJet’s priority.

“Whilst such incidents are rare we take them very seriously, do not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour on board, and always push for prosecution.”
