Josep Carreras brought his wit and charm to the press conference held today at Palma’s Gran Melia Victoria Hotel ahead of his highly anticipated concert tomorrow, 21st July 2018. The 71-year-old tenor will be accompanied by soprano Sabina Puértolas and the Arts Symphony Ensemble orchestra led by maestro David Giménez as he takes to Port Adriano’s stage at 21:30.

During the press conference, Carreras spoke about how much he loved Mallorca, describing it as the best island he’s managed to get a concert in. He also believes the island is blessed by God for its sun, sea, people and, sometimes, its concerts!

In 1970, he started his professional career in the Gran Teatre del Liceu of Barcelona with Nabucco and Lucrezia Borgia. He has since then become an international phenomenon working with some of the most renowned orchestra conductors in the world. His repertoire of discography includes more than 150 recordings, including 50 complete operas, oratorios and classical recitals, as well as popular music.

His charity work has also made the headlines and is something that he holds very close to his heart. Having recovered from Leukaemia in the late 1980s himself, he set up the "José Carreras International Leukaemia Foundation" which now has branches in Germany, Switzerland and even the US.

Josep Carreras marks the start of a summer music extravaganza in the prestigious marina of Port Adriano. Tickets are available from €25 and are available online.
