Plain clothes police officers are out in Inca to catch the culprits
The 'Poo Patrol' officers have been affect since October 2014 in a bid to clean up the streets around Inca and make it a more pleasant place to take a stroll.
“This is one of the issues we at the council receive most complaints about,” said Inca's mayor, Mr Torres. “This uncivil behaviour casts a negative light on the city and the council is forced to spend more on cleaning work, which is a financial extra, paid by all residents.”
Since the initiative began a total of 21 on the spot fines have been issued by the plain clothes police officers. Fines could be as high as €900!
Surely it is worth picking up your dog's poo rather than face a fine of that size! Or face the poo on the pavement the next time you take a walk!
