Abaco Cocktail Bar

Fancy cocktails in a lovely courtyard bar at the heart of La Llonja

Tucked away in the heart of Palma’s Old Town, in the historic La Lonja district, Abaco Cocktail Bar is one of Mallorca’s most iconic and atmospheric venues. Opened on 22 December 1981, it occupies a beautifully restored seventeenth-century mansion on Calle San Juan, where carriages once entered through the grand courtyard.

Stepping through its doors feels like travelling back in time. The former home, C’an Marcel, has been transformed into a lavish Baroque-inspired setting filled with antique furniture, rococo mirrors, heavy wooden beams, sculptures, tapestries, and an extraordinary abundance of fresh flowers and fruit displays. Candlelight flickers across stone walls and ceramic plates, while classical music drifts through the rooms, creating an almost operatic ambience.

The main bar sits in the dramatic entrance courtyard, with Mallorcan fabrics, a grand fireplace, and surrealist artworks adding to the theatrical charm. Upstairs salons, decorated with large paintings and comfortable armchairs, offer elegant corners in which to enjoy your drink.

Renowned for its expertly crafted cocktails, Abaco serves all the classics in a truly unforgettable setting. Prices reflect the prestigious surroundings, but the experience is incomparable. Described by the Financial Times as “surely the most remarkable bar in the world”, Abaco is not simply a cocktail bar - it is a spectacle that must be seen to be believed.
