Felanitx celebrates its Fira del Pebre Bord, honouring local red peppers
Felanitx celebrates the locally grown pebre bord (red pepper) with its annual Fira del Pebre Bord. The fair takes place at Parc Municipal de Sa Torre and Plaça de Sa Font de Santa Margalida.
The programme includes a gegants parade, cooking demonstrations, markets and live music. Activities for children run throughout the day.
The fair is held on the Sunday following 18 October, the feast of Sant Lluc. Traditionally, this date marked the beginning of purchases for the matances, the season of the annual pig slaughter, when families bought the red peppers needed for sobrassada and other cured meats.
