Honey Fair, Llubi
From honey liqueur to honey soap
Beekeepers and honey makers from all over Mallorca and Menorca gather at this festival, and their products are entered into honey competitions.
Every November, the quiet town square of Llubí transforms into a buzzing hub of activity for one of Mallorca's most beloved culinary traditions: the Fira de la Mel, or Honey Fair. This isn't just another village market—it's a social institution that brings literally the entire town out onto the streets.
Arrive on Sunday morning and you'll find the square lined with stalls dedicated entirely to honey in all its golden variations. Beekeepers and honey producers travel from across Mallorca and Menorca to showcase their craft, entering their finest batches into serious competitions judging categories like best dark honey, best original honey, and best clear honey.
The atmosphere is wonderfully convivial. Locals pack the surrounding bars and cafes, catching up with neighbours over coffee while keeping an eye on the action in the square. It's this village-wide turn-out that gives the fair its authentic charm—this is Llubí's day, and everyone knows it.
Beyond the jars of honey, you'll discover the full spectrum of bee-derived products: handmade soaps, pure beeswax, honeycomb still in its natural structure, and an array of honey-based wellness products. The adventurous can sample honey rum and other honey liqueurs, though if you want to taste the honey itself before committing to a purchase, don't be shy, ask the stall owners directly.
Food lovers will find plenty to graze on beyond honey. Homemade cakes, savoury snacks, and the crowd favourite, a dedicated stand offering free samples of sobrassada paired with honey on squares of bread. It's traditional Mallorcan flavours at their finest, and utterly irresistible.
The Fira de la Mel is proof that the best festivals are the ones locals actually attend. Come for the honey, stay for the atmosphere.
