2012 set to be another good year for tourism in Mallorca

After a bumper 2011, 2012 is already predicted to be a good year for the tourist trade in Mallorca.

Figures released during the World Travel Market in London this week confirmed the number of UK visitors to Spain was up 9% during the first nine months of 2011. And, the Balearics were identified as the top destination, attracting 24% of the 11 million British visitors travelling to Spain between January and September. The increase has, in the main, been put down to the troubles in the Middle East and North Africa.

Reports from the fair suggest summer bookings are already up for 2012 with tour operators promising more flights to the Balearics, and in particular Mallorca, to satisfy demand. Agencies are wary of calling it a complete recovery, especially as the British economy appears to be slowing once again.
