The Mallorca Film Commission has €60 Million Euros coming in from film projects in 2012 almost 30% more than in 2011.

Last year the island was used in a number of TV shows and films including "Mad Dogs" for Sky1 "The Inbetweeners Movie" and the Historic/Sci-Fi epic "Cloud Atlas", which stars Tom Hanks Halle Berry and Hugh Grant, bringing €38 million to the island.

This year Mallorca is hoping to raise its profile as a film location once again and has already attracted the interest of Harvey Keitel and his wife Daphna Kastner who have expressed interest in filming on the island.

The Mallorca Film Commission director Pedro Barbadillo has confirmed that "We've got eight film productions practically confirmed and another fourteen projects pending." adding "This island could become a fantastic global film set."

Whatever comes next for the Mallorcan film industry it is certainly an exciting time with more and more high profile projects in the pipe line and a film commission who seems serious about attracting the biggest projects they can to the island. Maybe this summer Palma will be the place to see the stars of the silver screen.
