With the unexpectedly busy and extended summer holiday season in Mallorca this year, both German and British tour operators have been negotiating with hotel owners in popular tourist resorts in order to lease hotels and guarantee rooms for the next seven years.

Now tour operators will have a far more prominent role in managing the hotels in all day to day activities as well as taking care of holiday makers. TUI, REWE and Alltours are just some of the tour operators involved in negotiating these leasing agreements and will use the hotels mainly for tour groups and all inclusive holidays. All the chosen hotels have undergone refurbishment and are mainly of a 4-star quality level.

The deal was an attractive one for hotel owners as large, wellknown tour operators from Britain and Germany are guaranteed to draw large crowds. Hotels have now agreed a fixed monthly return for leasing and leave all other managerial matter to the tour operators.

Resorts in which these hotels are located is in the Platja de Palma, Platja de Muro, Alcudia, Cala Milor and Capdepera areas as well as tourist locations in Calvia. The Mallorca Hotel Business Federation (FEHM) supports the deal because it understands the power these tour operators have in not only organising tour groups while they are in Mallorca but also connecting Mallorca to many airports in the UK and Germany.
