Monthly figures released by Frontur show that the number of visitors to the Balearic Islands in July have increased 1.7% over the same month last year, breaking the 2 million barrier.

Fontur carry out statistical analysis of tourist movements between borders and collect statistical data related to the entry into Spain of visitors who are not resident in Spain.

In the first 7 months of this year, the Islands have received 7.5% more visitors, the second highest increase in Spain next to Valencia (11.8%). Visitors from the UK lead the rankings with 60,000 more visitors in July this year compared to July last year, with French & German tourists not far behind.

Hotel stays, which account for around 60% of the accommodation market, have seen an increase of 2% this month, and non hotel accommodation stays have increased 4.3%.

Good news for local businesses, but maybe not so good if you're looking for a quiet corner on the beach to relax!
