Captain Morgan Rum filming TV advert in Mallorca
Replica of 18th century Spanish galleon gives commercial a pirate theme
An advert for a leading global brand of Rum has been filming this week in Palma and around Mallorca. Bellver Castle, Sa Calobra and the caves at Campanet have featured in the advert so far.
Further scenes are to be set in a replica of 'La Pepa', an 18th century Spanish galleon typical of the Spanish Navy at the time. Filming is currently taking place in the old city around the Cathedral.
The commercial is being directed by Todd Field of US company, Smuggler and also features British production designer Nathan Crowley. Palma Pictures are involved in co-ordinating the production.
The filming of the advert is expected to bring in more than €700,000 for the Palma.
The rum advert is expected to finish filming this week and forms part of a series of pirate-based adverts for the brand. It is reported that the advert will be shown at next year's Super Bowl final.
